This 3 year fixed term contract post is based at Beran Instruments Limited, Torrington, Devon. The starting salary of £20,000 - £25,000 will be supplemented by £6,000 for personal training and development and the opportunity to register for a higher degree.
Beran Instruments is an established manufacturer of electronic instrumentation for vibration and data analysis. Power generation customers decrease their operating risks and increase their revenues using Beran’s On-line Condition Monitoring Solutions.
Through this Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with the University of Bristol, Beran aims to develop intelligent health monitoring algorithms for rotating machinery, enabling the power and industrial sectors to minimise vibration, extend life and improve efficiency and reliability.
Working closely with Beran and the University of Bristol, you will gain commercial experience in developing and delivering key business projects.
You will be responsible for planning, organising and coordinating trials on turbines and other rotating machinery. You will devise and develop novel vibration analysis techniques for a wide range of power plant equipment, and then test and implement these with Beran’s products and customers.
You should have a degree in a mathematical, engineering or natural sciences based discipline, level 2:1 or above, preferably with some industrial or research experience in vibration, modelling or mathematical programming.
This post requires strong mathematical skills and software coding expertise, as well as excellent communication, project and time management skills.
While you will spend most of your time at Beran in North Devon, you will also be working in close partnership with the University of Bristol’s Faculty of Engineering.
It is anticipated that interviews will take place on 29 January 2010 at Beran Instruments.
