In particular, the holder is expected to ensure that the discipline of statistics takes advantage of the rapid development of computer technology and computing, and that it is integrated with education and research in computer science. Documented skills in research involving analysis of large complex datasets is considered a particularly important qualification.
The holder shall have experience of research initiation and be internationally active in his/her research field. It is also a requirement that the holder has experience of statistical applications in other disciplines.

This appointment as Professor involves research, teaching, and administrative duties. The holder of the appointment shall mainly conduct research but also participate in teaching on the undergraduate and advanced levels at Linköping University.
Qualifications
Documented scientific competence and pedagogic ability are required for the appointment as Professor. Assessment of scientific and pedagogic proficiency is given equal attention.

Area of responsibilities/description of the work
We announce one full time post-doc position within the Märit and Hans Rausing’s Initiative Against Breast Cancer project.
The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Karolinska Institutet, has an opening for a post doc position focusing on multidisciplinary training and research within molecular and genetic epidemiology of breast cancer. The work will be part of a large prospective cohort, the KaroMam project, which will be launched during 2010. The overall aim is to identify women at increased risk of breast cancer amalgamating information on risk factors, genetic variation and mammographic density. The aim is to collect information on 100,000 Swedish women. Included is also a large newly generated data set of approximately 6,000 women with prevalent breast cancer.

Area of responsibilities/description of the work
The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Karolinska Institutet, has an opening for a post doc position focusing on multidisciplinary training and research within Genetic Epidemiology of Breast Cancer. The work will be part of a large European Commission funded project where the aim is to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms that influences the susceptibility of breast cancer. The work includes a possibility to work on large-scale international breast cancer studies and be part of a world-wide network.
The position also includes administrative support for the COGS (Collaborative Oncological Gene-environment Study) project. This project is coordinated at Karolinska Institutet and responsibilities includes interaction with collaborators all over the world, follow-up of deliverables and milestones, and administrative support to the large number of groups involved in the project.

The Unit for Clinical Systems Biology (UCSB) aims to develop methods to find markers to personalize medication. We use allergy as a model of complex diseases, and analyse CD4 + cells from allergic patients with different high-throughput techniques to define modules of disease genes. Those modules are dissected to find candidate markers which are tested in functional and clinical studies.

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Geosciences has approx. 110 employees working in education, research and post-graduate studies. The research at the department is within the areas chemistry, biochemical and chemical process technology, chemical technology, ore geology, mineral processing and applied geology. The research is fundamental as well as applied and is sponsored by companies, foundations and research councils.
The Division of Chemical Engineering encompasses research in three research subjects: Chemical technology, Chemistry of interfaces, and Biochemical and chemical process engineering. The researchers are organized in four research groups; Surface chemistry, Bioactive molecules, Biorefinery and Zeolite. We participate with courses in the master programs in Chemical Engineering Design and Sustainable Process Engineering as well as separate courses on both undergraduate and graduate level. The division has strong collaboration with both universities in Sweden and abroad as well as industry.

A Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Geobiosphere Science, Physical Geography, Ecology or another relevant discipline, an aptitude and interest in the application of computing to scientific problems, and competent English language skills. Prior experience in the the development of environmental computer models and/or the analysis of large numerical data sets is an advantage. Knowledge of C/C++ or another similar programming language is an advantage.

KTH has recently opened a position for a Professor in Energy Systems Analysis.
The field of research covers energy systems analysis, methodological development and modelling of energy systems in global and regional perspectives with the aim to develop decision support systems for decision makers.

PDC is the leading Swedish supercomputing center hosted by CSC. It operates state-of-the-art computational and storage resources for a variety of scientific application domains, including mechanics, computational chemistry, life sciences, climatology, and physics. Among these systems is the currently largest academic supercomputer of Sweden, Ekman, a 10,000 core capability system for climate and turbulence research with a theoretical peak performance of over 90 TF.

Established in 2005 via the Global Science Forum of OECD, the International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility (INCF, www.incf.org) has rapidly become a recognized force in neuroscience research for fostering worldwide collaboration, data sharing and standards/guidelines development. With its Secretariat at Karolinska Institutet and KTH the INCF achieves global outreach through its national nodes in 14 member countries across North America, Europe and Asia.

The successful candidate will join PDC's support team working closely with INCF on a jointly developed work plan to help them optimize their usage of PDC systems and to establish a Nordic hub in INCF's global data network, linking it with other major sites supporting INCF's effort worldwide to foster federation and integration of neuroscience data.

A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Molecular Structural Biology group at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm (http://phillips.mbb.ki.se/). The position is initially available for 1 year with the possibility of extension to three years.
We are seeking a motivated scientist to join a new research project on structural and functional studies of protein-protein complexes involved in nerve cell development and disease. The project focuses on the characterization of the complexes and their function in the cell. The experiments will involve a broad range of techniques, such as protein expression/purification, site-directed mutagenesis, enzyme kinetics, and various methods of structure determination (X-ray crystallography, EM, SAXS).
