    The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, is Europe's leading research facility for fundamental research using neutrons. The ILL operates the brightest neutron source in the world, reliably delivering intense neutron beams to 40 unique scientific instruments. The Institute welcomes 1700 visiting scientists per year to carry out world-class research in solid-state physics, crystallography, soft matter, biology, chemistry and fundamental physics. Funded primarily by its three founder members: France, Germany and the United Kingdom, the ILL has also signed scientific collaboration agreements with 11 other European countries. The Science Division currently has a vacancy :

    The LSS group comprises a range of instruments designed to carry out studies on the structure of matter on a scale of one to hundreds of nanometers. These include instruments for small-angle scattering, reflectometry, diffraction from single crystals or one or two-dimensionally ordered materials. The range of science covered is very broad, from polymer and colloid science through structural molecular biology to materials science and magnetic phenomena. ILL scientists also have access to ancillary laboratories, including a protein deuteration facility (D-Lab) and a soft matter laboratory (PSCM) for sample preparation and characterization. These laboratories are run in partnership with European and also Grenoble-based research centres and facilitate collaboration with local and external scientists.

    The University of Versailles Saint Quentin-en-Yvelines invites applications for a term-limited 3-year faculty appointment in Sustainable Urban Development and Eco-innovation at the Assistant Professor-equivalent level, to start September 1, 2010. Applicants must hold a PhD and have demonstrated research and teaching potential in interdisciplinary approaches to sustainable development and eco-innovation in the context of cities. We particularly welcome applications from candidates with expertise in urbanism, innovation systems in urban and regional context, eco-innovation, sociology of technology (especially energy, water, construction and transport).

    The successful candidate will work in English in the research group of the chair at the University of Versailles Saint Quentin-en-Yvelines, located just outside Versailles, France. Candidates will be well-positioned to work in collaborative research projects with the non-academic partners of the chair, in collaboration with university-sector members of the Paris-region university consortium UniverSud Paris, and international partners of the chair. Opportunities also exist for contribution to teaching in the Econoving programme’s International Professional Master in Management of Eco-Innovation.

     to direct the perfume innovation work to globally implement delivery systems across categories;
     to be close to our business and facilitate the transfer of exploratory ideas (research in & out) into consumer  products;
     to  manage a portfolio of projects in a business perspective;
     to  develop new encapsulation technology at laboratory scales;
     to define perfumery rules of encapsulates in collaboration with perfumers.

    You hold a Ph.D. in chemistry or physical chemistry.
    You are a highly motivated candidate with experience in reflectometry and an interest in soft condensed matter. Computing skills and a general interest in software development, particularly in the field of off-specular data analysis would be considered an advantage.
    The post represents an excellent opportunity for a young postdoctoral scientist to develop expertise, broaden their experience and interact with leading scientists from around the world. Applications from more experienced scientists who are able to obtain a secondment period from their home institute will also be considered.
