    Activation calculations for radioactive components of the proton accelerator facilities, using existing programs
    Maintenance and development of these programs, in particular update of the data banks which contain regulatory guideline values but also physical data like cross sections for the production of isotopes

    Calculation of neutron flux spectra with suitable particle transport programs
    Active collaboration in and coordinating the validation of the employed activation programs by comparison with experimental data and selection of suitable sample material

    Project: Applications are invited for a PhD Studentship in the Department of Clinical Research of the University of Bern. The successful candidate will be involved in studies on signalling pathways involving Myc and receptor tyrosine kinases in pediatric cancer (embryonal tumors). The project will involve a combination of cell biology and molecular biology, including RNAi and DNA microarrays. Recent publications from the laboratory include: Marinov et al.

    The successful applicant will deal with problems of management from an integrated perspective in the context of the Executive MBA and in other programmes of the ES-HSG. This will include the development of existing executive education modules in this area and the conception of new courses highlighting integrated management. It is also intended that the successful applicant will take over the directorship of the Executive MBA programme. In parallel with this main task, he/she will be engaged in research and in (under)graduate teaching at the HSG. There will be a possibility of joining an HSG institute and of thus finding an environment that will guarantee an optimal combination of functions in executive education, and teaching and research at the University.

    The Institute of Geophysics at the University of Lausanne has an opening
    for a doctoral student in the field of electromagnetic geophysics. The
    selected student will develop techniques for time-lapse and stochastic
    inversion of radio and audio magnetotelluric data with applications to
    hydrology. The position is funded for three years and the starting date
    is June 1, 2010 or a later date to be decided upon. The successful
    candidate should hold a MSc degree in geophysics, physics, environmental
    engineering or computational hydrology.
